One of over 20 Cubs who had a great time at the ice skating ring in Birmingham – all skaters gained their ice skating badge.

Some skaters such as Florence and Grace did really well for their first time on their ice but soem took a little while to adapt!!

After having a packed lunch we walked to the skating rink where all the cubs had a go on the ice and made the leaders very proud by all having a go and some actually becoming very good little skaters.

After failed attempts to get near the German Market due to the crowds of adults there we went the back way to Pizza express where the cubs and leaders tucked into pizzas before cathcing the train home.

The cubs did KD9 proud by listening, doing as thye were told and making it a great day for all concerned

With a scheduled 2 camps plus a trip to London we are hoping to pack a lot in as well as some good basic Scouting. We have some community based things to do and an opportunity to gain a few badges along the way.

After a 45 minute train journey, Cubs will walk from Moor Street station and navigate themselves, walking, to Birmingham’s Think Tank.

From there it’s a short walk to the ice skating rink for lunch and an hour on ice, then a pizza tea followed by a walk past the world famous German market before we board the train back to Kidderminster.

Cubs may get their ice skaters badge.

We will soon give parents details of how to order these items that can be used as part of their uniform – they are blue in colour – main colour royal blue with a sky blue “heron” logo so that will contrast nicely with our necker. The logo will incorporte the KD9 name.

Adult T shirts, sweat shirts and hoodies will also be available.

We hope to have these ready for sale just after Xmas 2011 and details will be on our website for orders. IF you are interested, please see your leader.

That’s a reward for exceptional Scouting and the whole group is proud of both Rachel and Julie.

Nicki Hitchcock also has her warrant now as assistant scout leader and her first aid certificate. Nicki has completed over 20 years Scouting already.

Welcome also to Ben and Steve embarking on their Scout leader training, Tracy on her Beaver leader training, our new Chair person Anne and new Treasurer David.

Scott has alos joind Cubs as a Pack assistant.

Scouts took part in a variety of badge work that included Mechanics, Forester, Pioneering, Climbing, Camp Cook, First Aid. Rifles and Archery and all twenty three passed their badges. Well done to everybody that attended.

On Saturday night – Bonfire night – Scouts joined others from the Camp at Ebury Rise to watch the fantastic bonfire and firework display from nearby West Midland Safari Park and enjoyed the spectacular show from fireworks costing well over £8,000 – for free.
